Wine Appreciation Courses

The Grape Hunter's industry leading wine appreciation courses are as follows.

WINE BASICS: 2 WEEKS $165/hd (incl GST)
Over two weeks, you’ll learn the things you need to know about wine but are afraid to ask. In a social setting and with no question too silly, we discuss the key grape varieties and styles, learn about the major wine regions of Australia, taste great examples from some of our favourite vineyards and meet like-minded wine lovers.

WINE FOUNDATIONS: 3 WEEKS $220/hd (Incl GST)
Over the three weeks you’ll learn the techniques needed to effectively evaluate and taste wine, learn how to distinguish one variety from another, and just what to look for in determining quality wine. You’ll also gain a valuable insight into where and how wine is made: from what it is that makes a good vineyard to different winemaking techniques.

Week 1 - Sparkling & white wines / How to taste and evaluate wine
Week 2 - Red wine / In the vineyard – grapes & environment and Oz & NZ regions
Week 3 - Fortified & dessert wines / In the winery - winemaking and production

WINE FOCUS: 4 WEEKS $330/hd (Incl GST)
During this four week course we'll take an in depth look at each of the major New World varieties including Riesling, Pinot Gris/Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. We'll taste, examine and discuss benchmark wines from both Australia and abroad and discover just how significantly wines can vary depending on where, when and how they're made.

WINE AND FOOD MATCHING: 1 EVENING $165/hd (Incl GST)
Why do some wines taste or ‘work’ better with certain foods? Over a convivial dinner, The Grape Hunter’s Wine Education and Hospitality Director; Todd Rumble outlines how certain wine styles complement different food flavours and techniques to match wines to food. A five course degustation menu is matched with five different wines.

BESPOKE TASTINGS: A PRIVATE, CUSTOMISED TASTING EVENT: FROM $55/hd (Incl GST)
Ever wanted to have your own private tasting amongst friends or colleagues? Love a particular variety or want to taste a range of wonderfully different and obscure wines from around the world? With Buy Fine Wines you can!  We offer bespoke, themed tasting packages for groups as small as 6 people.

We help you choose the wines or simply obtain the wines you want and then talk you through each one, providing an insight into background and production with a little education along the way. Please contact us to discuss options.

Corporate and Private Wine Events

Corporate and Private Tastings are available year round and it is also an excellent opportunity entertain your friends and staff with somehting slightly different  than jts another drinks and dinner function. The Grape Hunter is associated with 100's of wonderful wineries across Australia, New Zealand and the world. The quality is second to none, while giving you the choice of a number of events to fit in with your budget. 

We have designed a wide range of tasting themes to suite many different interests. We are more than happy to vary the tastings for our clients.

The Cost
Standard Tasting: 1-2 hour presentation fee: $330(ex GST). Additional cost related to preparation of tasting notes and order forms is $15/hd. Wine is normally $20+ per bottle, depending on the quality of the wine selected.

Dinner Tasting: 2-3 hour presentation fee: $660(incl GST). Same additional costs as above.

Expenses for travel, accommodation to be pre-approved and covered by the client.

Wine Cellars

Wine Cellars - it’s all about the WINE!”…  
Grape Hunter experts have many years of experience in designing and constructing private and commercial wine cellars. We work very closely with clients to ensure an excellent outcome. Review the steps below and let us begin to help you create the perfect wine cellar! 

We are constantly putting together highly regarded wine cellars for our cliental. All wines are firstly sampled by the tasting panel and then put forward to the private buyers. These wines range from “Ready-To-Drink-Now” to “Long Term Aged Cellaring” for investment.

Many people contact us regularly and ask numerous questions on cellaring wines and what the benefits of doing so are. It’s very simple. For us, “It’s all about the wine!” We know that each person has different reasons for wanting to build a cellar. Many of our clients want to use their cellars as a showpiece, an area to entertain and also a place where they can shut–out from the weekly grind and relax.

We believe you can have all the above, as long as you remember that the wine comes first. There’s no better feeling when your guests offer praise, not only how beautiful your cellars looks, but how well the wines are kept and how well the climate control is working.
